![]() The scenes to be forwarded are: when Jesper enters a stable. In S1 E5 there are a few mildly sexually explicit scenes that will need to be forwarded since they are unnecessary to the story. In general there are instances in every episode that display homosexuality. The only thing I'd be concerned about is that the violence isn't too much, but if a kid's used to watching anything pg13 or tv14 they should be able to handle it no problem. Overall I would say this is a great show! It tackles some pretty big themes and is also just really fun. There's some swearing, nothing particularly bad none of it really stood out to meĭrinking is shown a few times, but it doesn't play an important role, and no one is ever shown to be drunk. There's one scene where two characters must remove their wet clothing to stay warm, but there is no actual nudity they cover themselves with furs the whole time. In terms of sex, it's limited to kissing. The levels of violence are pretty normal for a show of this kind. I put twelve as the age, but I think it really depends on the child. Typical fantasy violence is definitely present and could be frightening to young children. The morally grey aspect of some of the characters makes for great discussions on right and wrong, and the strength and compassion but also relatability of characters (I'm thinking specifically of Alina and Inej, the two main female leads) make them super interesting. There's a diverse group of interesting and well-developed characters, and an engaging and well-constructed plot. Shadow and Bone is a great TV fantasy adaptation! Mal and Alina's relationship is positive and beautiful. A side note: it does help to have read the books as there are a lot of fan-favorite moments: cameo of the author and popular quotes within the dialogue. Conversations to have with your teen would be: relationships/violence/disturbing images for them. Understand why they did it that way but visually disturbing. Collar for Alina-more grotesque in adaption than was originally written in book. Sex/making out by-Jesper (from the Six of Crows book) and another guy (before and after scenes) for a pair of horses. the violent display of fighting/war/blood with knives, and several execution scenes (in the head)/some where they lost a head. Conversations! we had afterwards were: 1. I have a teen super-fan of the author and they love these characters/watched the show, (I thinking it was fine as I read the trilogy) and then I watched it. That being said the visual display of the story uses images that would be rated R if on the big screen and would have been censored on TV. The adaptation is mixing the 2 book series and they do a great job. This review in NO WAY reflects the books just the ADAPTATION on Netflix. Have read the Grisha Trilogy books-very good/enjoyed/would recommend for teens on up.
